Build a practical growing routine
Establish a leafy crop with room to grow
Choose a lettuce cultivar for the local season and desired harvest: whole heads or repeated leaf picking. Lettuce, kale, spinach and pak choi are not interchangeable crops even though they share a guide category. Start with one cultivar, record sowing dates and transplant healthy seedlings once roots can reach the systemβs water supply without burying the crown.
Allow for mature canopy size rather than filling every hole automatically. Crowding reduces airflow and makes inspection harder. Watch for bolting and tipburn in warm conditions, checking roots, water delivery and canopy conditions before concluding that extra calcium is needed. Harvest timing varies with cultivar, light and temperature; chart dates are planning references, not guarantees.
Harvest safely and learn from each cycle
Use clean tools and containers, exclude damaged or diseased leaves and protect produce from heat and contamination. Hydroponic produce is not automatically pesticide-free or microbiologically safe. Record plant losses and usable harvest alongside sowing and transplant dates so that the next cycle is based on your own results.
Understand your source water and readings
Source water already contains dissolved substances. Its pH, electrical conductivity (EC) and alkalinity describe different things: pH measures acidity or alkalinity at that moment, EC indicates overall dissolved-ion concentration, and alkalinity helps explain resistance to pH adjustment. A high pH alone does not identify the substances in the water. Water analysis is particularly useful when a reservoir repeatedly drifts or plants develop persistent symptoms.
Measure water before mixing and the solution afterwards with calibrated meters. EC cannot confirm individual nutrient concentrations, the bottle ratio or an independent nutrient assay. Crop EC references are not guaranteed outcomes of the Nana Organics dose. Check your measurements and request crop-specific advice if the mixed solution is unsuitable. Record readings at a consistent time and note water additions, weather and irrigation changes alongside them.
Look after the roots and water delivery
Roots require water, oxygen and suitable temperatures as well as mineral nutrients. Confirm that flow reaches every plant, drains remain clear and aeration works where the system requires it. A pump running in the reservoir does not prove that all emitters or planting pockets receive water. Protect the solution from light, inspect tanks and lines for algae or biofilm, and remove plant debris.
Clean equipment between crops and follow equipment and disinfectant labels for dilution, contact time, protective equipment and rinsing. Do not improvise peroxide, bleach or pesticide treatments in a live reservoir. Leaf yellowing, wilting and brown roots can have multiple causes. Persistent or rapidly spreading symptoms warrant qualified advice, not repeated fertilizer additions.
